We had a restful night at the Hotel Croccodilla despite the hours of thunder, lightning and rain. The hotel has such friendly, helpful staff and wonderful accommodations. We enjoyed a fantastic breakfast in the hotel solarium which is right near the outdoor pool and outdoor eating area. After sitting in the lobby for about and hour waiting for the rain to end we headed down to the main road through the train station to catch the number 30 bus to Savona.We bought a Focaccia Rocco pizza which is cheese and foccacia bread and another of the Genovese specialties that the young man on the train the night before told us we must try. It was delicious and we ate it as a snack while we waited to board the boat.
The bus ride was so easy and we enjoyed the views of the coastline and were in front of the Savona port within 20 minutes. We met a sweet, elderly couple from Canada who were taking the Costa Pacifica cruise ship to the Eastern Mediterranean and we helped them make their way to the port building and check in.We arrived at Noon and were in our room by about 2:30pm and the room is fantastic with a huge sofa and seating area. We had lunch up near the pool and then took a tour of the boat. We have a safety drill in about 15 minutes and then we can just relax and enjoy the cruise.
So that's really all there is to say since except that we are so happy and so grateful to be on this lovely ship and looking forward to the next week of city visits. Tomorrow is a full day at sea and then we reach Malaga, Spain on Wednesday, then Casablanca, Morocco, Cadiz, Spain, Lisbon,
Portugal, Valencia, Spain and last Barcelona, Spain.
