Norwegian Cruise, Epic (Day 2) - Marseille, France

Great night of sleep and then a quick buffet breakfast and off we went to shuttle bus for Marseille Marina. It's a beautiful busy city and the European Capital of Culture for 2013.

Mom and I are at McDonald's to use their free internet and she loves their coffee and then off to find a hairdresser for mom, hopefully the TCHIP place I found in Paris that has a franchise here and only 20 Euro for wash/cut and blowdry.


So I don't really have much else to say except that it's fun and beautiful and mom's having a great time, as am I!!!

I'll add more pictures hopefully during tomorrow's stop in Palma.

We ended up not going to the hairdresser we first intended because we found along the way this small salon and for only 14 Euros they did wash, cut and style. It turned out to be an incredible, fun experience. The ower Franck was outside and greeted us and his friend who stops by to help some days was there as well and she spoke some English. We started chatting as Franck started busying himself with making us tea and then serving chocolates and just having a great time being a host. We weren't even sure he was the hairdresser at first he was so much the great host but then he prepared mom and off he went to snipping here and there and he did a fantastic job and her hair looked adorable.

Then he turned to me and said to get in the chair but I tried to explain I'd just gotten my hair cut in Paris but he insisted for no charge so I acquiesced and got in the chair and he pulled pieces of hair up and making faces so we were all laughing because clearly he did not love my cut but instead of getting the scissors he put in some leave in moisturizer and then did some magic with the dryer and wha-lah, I was done and he was happy which was great. Just a real sweetheart and it was a wonderful way to spend an hour in Marseilles and a nice surprise.

We are visiting Marseilles again in about two weeks before getting to Rome so we promised to visit and say hi and he can make sure mom's hair is as he had intended.

It was so beautiful out we just kept walking around and going in and out of all the wonderful little shops. It's a really charming city with so much to keep you busy especially if you love shopping and so many adorable cafe's and restaurants. There's also an abundance of public art and interesting old architecture and of course all the beauty of a seaside, fishing, sailing town.
