Then back to computer stuff and a little reading and around 1pm Teddy and I headed out for our walk. It was a overcast day but no rain so all-in-all very good for walking and we headed down the road to Blaxhall again since really there are only so many different directions we can go. But this time just one house from ours I saw one of the many small green arrow signs that say "footpath" that are scattered all around the countryside. So we decided to follow it and it brought us to a field just down the road and one we've been in many times but it was still nice to be on the tree lined path and see the backyards of all the little houses near this one. They look like any other neighborhood with toys scattered about and one had a small children's trampoline. But what was a fabulous surprise was the farm that is right near the house but obscured from view by trees which has a whole bunch of chickens. I love finding these quintessential symbols of country life and how can you not enjoy the site of chickens roaming free in their pen. Well Teddy didn't find them the least bit interesting so I took a picture and we moved on.
We made our way to Braxhill and managed to shave 10 minutes off our time from our last walk. We are picking up speed which is a good thing or maybe he stopped to pee a few less times, I'm not sure, but either way by 1:30pm we were at the Ship Pub and beyond that to the little cottages that sit on the corner of a small street. They're so quaint I had to take a picture.
We turned around just a ways up the hill and ventured across another "footpath" to this wide open bright green grassy field. I think it's a farm but either way Teddy got to be freed from his leash for a bit and he just ran right into the lake-like puddle and had a little ball playing in the water.
So back home we went but stopped off first to see that nice women Debbie with the baby Stanley that we met the other day. We thought we'd find out how her first two days back at work went and she was so sweet and invited us in as another mother friend of hers that she met at prenatal classes was visiting as well. It didn't go too well with Teddy because he got so excited at the sight of more people he went a bit crazy so I had just enough time to be gracious when I was introduced to Debbie's friend and her sweet baby, Josh and ask about Debbie's first days at work which went very well she said and then we just had to leave because Teddy was out of control. He loves people but he's to rambunctious especially with two little babies around.
So, as you can see the day was pretty uneventful and the afternoon was spent at home with the furry ones. They do make me laugh sometimes especially when the cats are chasing each other around the kitchen and Ollie plays with his favorite toy a mouse finger puppet. He threw it onto the table and then carried it over the bowl I have my fruit in and just threw it in. I'm not sure what kind of message he was trying to send but when he realized I wasn't getting up to go fetch it pawed it out himself and went on his merry way to play with it elsewhere.
Right now the Sooty Cat is sleeping at my feet, Teddy is sleeping on the floor next to the sofa, Ollie is cleaning himself fastidiously on the chair near the fridge and little sweet Qweni is asleep next to the AGA with her head on the teapot like it's a pillow. And Ollie and Sooty Cat had done the same thing yesterday with the pot. Just too, too cute for words.
Oh, and one little note, I finally figured out what the fireworks were for the other night. While I was in Blaxhall I saw community bulletin board and posted on it was a flyer for the Blaxhall Bonfire on November 3 with fireworks to come after the BBQ. So it was a Blaxhall celebration that drove Teddy to distraction and in turn me as well with his incessant barking. One mystery solved!
