Tunstall is a small village in the Woodbridge town area. It's filled with lots of charming country homes and farms with cows and sheeps and lots of green pastures. Very quaint and sweet. I won't give many details about them and their home because that's their private life and they didn't agree to be part of a blog but I have taken some pictures of the cats and teddy, the spaniel. Olie, the white cat and the other light colored cat with brown and black splotches are Seal Point mixes and very funny, especially Olie who is the most outgoing and mischievous and a real talker, very loud. He has a little mouse toy he goes crazy chasing. And the other small kitty is the oldest, 4 and is just like my Sooty a Russian or Prussian Blue. She's sweet but not crazy about being picked up. They're a very nice family and the house is lovely and on a nice road where Teddy and I can take walks. Teddy loves to walk and play in the wet grass and prance around in the puddles. Oh, cats are soooooooo much easier but we love dogs as well!On Monday morning John took me to Aldeburgh, another small town nearby to get some groceries and such and then he showed me some of the area. There is a bus that goes about every hour right around the corner from the house so at least I'll be able to get around to the towns. It's too far to walk and taking the bike is just too scary because there are no sidewalks or bike trails.
He then had a dentist appointment in Ipswich so I went with him to see the town which is where I took pictures of one of their municipal buildings and the main street filled with shoppers. It's so funny to be driving around this area and see all these familiar town names it's like being back in New England. I asked John if Ipswich was on the water, which it is, although not the ocean, a major river that leads to the ocean and ships do come into Ipswich port. I asked because I was curious when the early American settlers were naming towns did they chose them because of the physical characteristics the two towns had in common or was it just that the lived in Chelmsford in the UK and was standing on a plot of land in New England and said I'd like to give it my hometown name? I passed Chelmsford on the bus coming here but couldn't see if it was like the town my friends live in so we'll just have to see has I go to more places if there are any physical similarities.There is lots to do in the surrounding area so hopefully I'll find enough interesting things to write about in the month and half that I'll be here. They come back for a week in between and then I'll get those few days to just explore another part of the country or go visit a friend in Denmark. We'll see as it gets closer what I feel like doing but for now I'm going to force myself to stay in and do lots of writing and catch up on that kind of work. I have such a hard time doing that but I should take advantage of the quite (when Teddy isn't asking for attention) and do work.
I've been watching the online news for information and updates and hurricane Sandy and it's strange but it makes me long to be in NYC. I think when your city is under attack by mother nature or anything really you want to be there to help her stay strong. But I know she and all her people will be just fine, they've been through worse but prayers and good thoughts continue!So that's all for now and I'll update as I get interesting pictures or stories to share.
